ISO 9001:2008 Recertification
Signal International recently completed the ISO 9001:2008, 3-year re-registration audits at both the Mississippi and Texas Divisions. The audits were completed with zero (0) findings (no major nor minor findings) and zero (0) non-conformances.
During the audits, Signal’s Quality Management System (QMS) was reviewed to ensure proper implementation, procedure compliance and proof of continuous process improvements, as required by the ISO 9001:2008 Standard. The following components of the QMS were assessed:
- Management commitment, review and planning QMS implementation and execution
- Nonconformance tracking system, corrective and preventive actions program
- Internal and external audits
- Document and records control
- Human resources, competence and training
- Determination of customer and regulatory requirements
- Management systems, purchasing and material (shipping & receiving) control
- Vendor selection, monitoring and control
- Contract and subcontract review and management
- Engineering processes and controls
- Production process controls, equipment calibrations and maintenance
The Independent Auditor awarded commendations for above-average performance in the following areas:
- Quality records
- Communications with employees
- Project materials control and welder traceability documentation
Signal's QMS provides for inspection and verification of all elements of the construction process that affect quality. Materials control, dimensional control, special processes (welding & coating) and statistical controls are used to monitor quality trends and are all effectively executed to provide a comprehensive QA/QC program to assure your project’s success.
Welding reject rates have been maintained well below industry standards, as shown below. These rates are all inclusive of the radiographic, ultrasonics, magnetic particle and liquid penetrant tests on structural fabrications and welded pipe systems.
Nondestructive testing results
2003 - September 2010
Weld Reject Rate of .466%
Third-party examiners and in-house technicians have inspected more than 499,826 feet (over 94.66 miles) of welds with ultrasonic, radiography, magnetic particle and liquid penetrate methods from 2003 through September 2010. The .466% reject rate during this period is among the best in the industry.
